The Common Roots of the Svan and Megrelian-Laz Languages

Abstract

In recent years, more attention has been paid to the common lexical forms in the Megrelian-Laz and Svan speech.  Commonalities between these forms of speech  include roots in the rules of Georgian grammar as well as phonetic-phonological and grammatical elements. While structural differences in Georgian language exist, for various reasons, including non-linguistic ones, these element changes do not go beyond the boundaries of a common grammar. Most of these have been confirmed by Kartvelologists.
