Conservatism and Georgian Society

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to focus on a special ideology, conservatism, and its role in developing national awareness in Georgian society. All nations are affected by conservatism and Georgia is no exception. In the past, when conservatism was not as fully established as a leading ideology in Europe, the lives of Georgian people were impacted greatly by the values which serve as the basis for this ideology. Patriotism and respect for traditions and the past have been central values for Georgians for centuries. As such, Georgian national self-consciousness or a national ideology was created based on this.
